Recognising Genuine Isabel Marant: An Authentication Guide
From Beckett sneakers to logo T-shirts, Isabel Marant is regularly copied — and the main lines (Isabel Marant, Isabel Marant Étoile) are sometimes confused or misrepresented on the pre-owned market. Here is how to see clearly.
At NB08, every piece is checked and authenticated in our boutique before it goes on sale. The useful checks are set out below.
Why check the authenticity of an Isabel Marant piece?
The Parisian designer generates strong demand on the pre-owned market; copies target logo pieces and knitwear. The line labels are your first checkpoint.
Labels and lines

Woven 'ISABEL MARANT' or 'ISABEL MARANT ÉTOILE' neck label: fine typography, crisp weave. The composition label details the materials and manufacture, with a product code. Check that the line matches the piece (Étoile = the more casual line) and the exact spelling — copies often give themselves away here.
Logos, embroidery and prints
Flocked or embroidered logos are even, well positioned and durable; the embroidered ethnic motifs on signature pieces are dense and precise. Flocking that peels or loose embroidery is not up to standard.
Materials and cut
Soft, lofty blended knits, washed cottons with a supple drape, considered cuts (well-controlled dropped shoulders). The materials of copies are dry and stiff — you can feel the difference in the hand.
Price and seller: the warning signs
A very low price on a recent piece, catalogue photos, labels never shown: be wary. Ask for macro photos of the labels and logos.
