Recognising Genuine Maison Kitsuné: An Authentication Guide
Maison Kitsuné's little fox has become a cult logo of relaxed chic — and a target for counterfeiters, especially on Fox Head T-shirts and jumpers. Here is how to check a piece before you buy it.
At NB08, every piece is checked and authenticated in our boutique before it goes on sale. The pointers to know are set out below.
Why check the authenticity of a Maison Kitsuné piece?
Strongly branded basics, very common on the pre-owned market: the scenario in which copies thrive. The details of the embroidery and labelling quickly separate the genuine from the fake.
The embroidered Fox Head

The fox's head is precisely embroidered: well-defined pointed ears, crisp russet gradients, dense embroidery with a clean reverse. Copies produce a blurry fox with flat colours and sparse embroidery. The size and position of the patch are consistent on genuine pieces.
Labels and markings
Woven 'MAISON KITSUNÉ PARIS' neck label in fine typography, composition label with product code and place of manufacture (Portugal in particular). Consistent sizes across the labels. Cheap printing or spelling mistakes: a deal-breaker.
Materials and finishing
Dense, soft cottons, even knits that do not twist, firm collars, clean seams. The brand's 'premium basics' level is immediately obvious in the hand.
Price and seller: the warning signs
A new Fox Head T-shirt at two-thirds off is a copy. Ask for a macro photo of the fox and photos of the labels.
