Recognising Genuine Weekend Offender: An Authentication Guide

An emblematic brand of British casual culture, Weekend Offender is less copied than the luxury giants — but counterfeits do exist, especially of logo sweatshirts and jackets. Here is how to check a piece before you buy.

At NB08, every piece is checked and authenticated in our boutique before it goes on sale. The essential points are set out below.

Why check the authenticity of a Weekend Offender piece?

The football-terrace aesthetic and accessible prices mean that many pieces circulate pre-owned — including copies that are easy to spot once you know the brand's standards.

The badge and logos

The WO badge (a woven or rubberised patch, depending on the piece) is crisp, with even edges, and firmly sewn on. The lettering is straight and well spaced. A faded patch with frayed or crudely overlocked edges gives away a copy.

Inside labels

Woven Weekend Offender neck label, composition label with size and care instructions: clean typography and consistent sizes across the labels. The inside prints do not bleed.

Materials and finishing

Dense cottons and fleeces, firm ribbing, even seams, smooth-running zips on jackets. The brand takes care over its basics: a thin, rough piece that loses its shape is not up to standard.

Price and seller: the warning signs

Be wary of cut-price 'new' bundles and generic photos; ask for real photos of the badge and labels.
