Pre-owned Jacquemus: How to Buy Wisely
Buying Jacquemus pre-owned is a good idea for one simple reason: the brand sells pieces whose design barely changes from one season to the next. A Gros Grain T-shirt from 2023 and one from 2026 are the same. A Chiquito is still a Chiquito. The drop in price, however, is very real. You still need to know what to buy, where to look and what to avoid.
What buying pre-owned really changes with Jacquemus
Simon Porte Jacquemus's brand runs on permanent icons rather than drops: the Chiquito bag and its variations, the Bambino, Le Bob, the Gros Grain T-shirts and hoodies, Jacquemus knitwear. The result: a pre-owned piece does not look 'last season', it looks like a Jacquemus piece. That is what makes buying pre-owned a rational choice here, whereas it is risky with trend-driven brands.
The second effect: prices. A piece in very good condition generally sells well below the retail price on the basics, a little less so on leather goods, which depreciate less. As a benchmark, on every pre-owned product page we display the original retail price next to our price: the difference is clear at a glance.
The four pieces you can buy with your eyes closed
The Gros Grain T-shirt. Thick jersey, straight cut, small logo. It ages well: a worn example keeps its shape; the only things to check are the neckline (it should not gape) and the sharpness of the logo.
The Gros Grain or Typo hoodie. Heavy fleece, relaxed cut. Look at the inside: pilled or flattened fleece signals hot washes, and the hoodie has probably lost half a size.
Le Bob. A pre-owned Jacquemus bucket hat is almost always a good deal, provided the size (56, 58 or 60 cm) is yours: it is printed on the inside label, so insist on a photo of it.
Le Chiquito. It is the most sought-after and most copied piece. Authenticated pre-owned, it is one of the few designer bags available below the retail price with no compromise on the object itself. Check the corners, the buckle and the exact dimensions (the Moyen, Grand and Long variations are easily confused in photos).
The three checks to make before you pay
1. Authenticity. Jacquemus is counterfeited on a massive scale, from the bucket hat to the bag. Logo embroidery, labels, hardware: we have detailed the method in our guide to recognising genuine Jacquemus. A seller who refuses macro photos of the labels is a seller to avoid.
2. Size, in the right system. Jacquemus labels its basics in letters and its ready-to-wear in French sizes (44–54 for men, 34–44 for women). A '48' found in a listing is an M. Everything is explained piece by piece in our Jacquemus size guide.
3. The actual condition, not the stated condition. Ask for the piece laid flat, the underarms, the inside of the collar, the corners of a bag. 'Very good condition' means nothing without a photo; an honestly described flaw is better than silence.
What is best avoided pre-owned
Linen or very fine knit pieces without a flat-lay photo: they lose their shape and rarely recover it. Light-coloured leather bags whose corners have not been photographed. And above all, any 'new, never worn' Chiquito offered far below the retail price: at that level of markdown on such a sought-after bag, the likelihood of a counterfeit is too high.
New or pre-owned: how we decide in the boutique
At NB08, the two share the same rail: Gros Grain T-shirts and hoodies from the 2026 collection, new, with authenticated pre-owned pieces alongside. The advice we give most often: new for white or light-coloured basics (pre-owned white is rarely immaculate), pre-owned for dark colourways, hoodies and leather goods, where the price difference is most worthwhile for an identical item.
In summary
- Jacquemus ages well pre-owned: the icons do not change
- Safe bets: Gros Grain T-shirt and hoodie, Le Bob, Chiquito
- Three checks: authenticity, size in the right system, condition in photos
- To avoid: fine knits without a flat-lay photo, a cut-price 'new' Chiquito
- New for light colours, pre-owned for dark colours and leather goods
