Recognising Genuine Casablanca: An Authentication Guide
With its printed silk shirts and sun-drenched 'après-sport' aesthetic, Casablanca has become one of the most desirable brands in contemporary luxury — and therefore one of the most copied, particularly its silks and jacquard knits. Here is how to tell a genuine Casablanca piece from a counterfeit.
At NB08, every piece is checked and authenticated in the boutique before it goes on sale. But knowing how to check for yourself remains the best protection. The key points are below.
Why check the authenticity of a Casablanca piece?
Charaf Tajer's spectacular prints photograph well — and copy badly. Fake shirts circulate on a massive scale on peer-to-peer platforms, often in polyester passed off as silk. A few simple checks are enough to sort the genuine from the fake. To understand the brand's codes, read the history and codes of Casablanca.
Print and material: the first test

On a genuine Casablanca shirt, the print is sharp and detailed, with deep colours, and the motifs are correctly matched at the seams. The silk has a fluid drape and a characteristically cool touch — a fabric that rustles, has a synthetic shine or shows a blurred print is a very bad sign. On knitwear, the jacquard is knitted (not printed) and the design is crisp on both sides.
Labels, buttons and finishing
The 'Casablanca Paris' neck label has fine, even lettering; the composition and care label is consistent (genuine silk, made in Italy or Portugal depending on the piece). The shirt buttons are high quality, often mother-of-pearl, and securely sewn. Also check that the seams are even and the buttonholes clean.
Consistency of the model
Casablanca works in very distinctive seasonal collections. A quick search for the print lets you check that the model really exists, and in that colourway. Counterfeiters sometimes mix in invented prints or combinations that were never produced.
Price and seller: the warning signs
A Casablanca silk shirt costs several hundred euros new: a 'bargain' that seems too good rarely is. Insist on real photos of the labels and buttons before any peer-to-peer purchase.
