Recognising Genuine Salomon: An Authentication Guide

Since the XT-6 became a techwear icon, fake Salomons have flooded resale platforms. Copies are sometimes convincing in photos, much less so in the hand: the technical level of a genuine pair (lacing, sole, materials) is hard to imitate. Here is the method for settling the question.

At NB08, every pair is checked and authenticated in our boutique before it goes on sale. The checkpoints are set out below.

Why check the authenticity of a pair of Salomon sneakers?

XT-6, XT-4 OG, ACS Pro: Salomon's lifestyle models are in huge demand, and some colourways resell above retail price — counterfeiters' favourite playground.

The Quicklace system and construction

The Quicklace on a genuine pair slides in one smooth movement and locks firmly; the cord is thin, stiff and strong, with its neat storage pocket on the tongue. The welds and heat-bonded films on the upper are applied with millimetre precision, with no bubbles or curling edges — this is where copies most often give themselves away.

Sole, markings and inside label

The Contagrip sole carries crisp markings, and the cushioning is firm and responsive (copies are often soft or hollow). The inside label shows model, size, reference ('article') and country of manufacture with precise printing: it must match the box exactly. The Salomon logos (upper, heel, sole) are even and well aligned.

The box and colourway

The Salomon box states the reference, official colourway and size — check that the colourway name really exists for that model (Vanilla Ice, Bistro Green…). A colourway that was never produced or a blurry box label condemns a 'new' pair.

Price and seller: the warning signs

A sought-after XT-6 does not sell new at half price. Insist on photos of the inside label, the sole and the Quicklace in the locked position.

Checklist: authenticating a pair of Salomon sneakers in 7 points

  • Smooth Quicklace that locks firmly
  • Upper films and welds neatly applied
  • Marked Contagrip sole, firm cushioning
  • Inside label = box reference
  • Aligned, even logos
  • Official colourway that exists for the model
  • Realistic price and reliable seller
