Recognising Genuine Canada Goose: An Authentication Guide
Canada Goose is one of the most counterfeited outerwear brands: its expensive parkas are copied on a massive scale, sometimes with real fur of dubious provenance. Authenticating a piece before you buy is essential — here is the method.

Why check the authenticity of a Canada Goose piece?
A new Expedition or Chilliwack costs more than a thousand euros: industrial counterfeiters have been targeting them for years, with copies that are dangerously convincing in photos.
The Arctic patch: the telltale detail
The embroidered patch (an inverted map of the Arctic) is the most reliable point: on a genuine piece, the blue 'waves' are fine and even, the maple leaves well drawn, the red border crisp and the embroidery dense. Copies show misshapen continents, loose stitches and dull colours. Compare with an official photo: the differences leap out at you.
Hologram and inside labels
Since 2011, every piece has carried an authenticity hologram (polar bear) sewn inside: tilt it and the image should move clearly. The composition and care labels are numerous, multilingual and cleanly printed, with a consistent style code. A missing, flat or blurry hologram is a deal-breaker on recent pieces.
Fill, zips and fur
The down is lofty and springs back after compression; the main zips are sturdy and smooth-running; the hood fur (on the models concerned) is full and silky. Flat fill, escaping feathers or synthetic, rough 'fur' condemn the piece. On knitwear (jumpers, cardigans), check the density of the merino wool and the crispness of the small patch.
Price and seller: the warning signs
This is THE brand where 'too good to be true' almost always proves right. Insist on macro photos of the patch, hologram and labels.
